positively speaking….

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Positive thinking refers to confidence in your actions, beliefs, and competencies. Positive thinking is the key towards a successful and fulfilling life.

Self-talk can be described as that little voice inside our head which can either be beneficial or detrimental to one’s thinking. This inner voice usually gives comments, critiques, or praises our deeds and actions.

There are different views regarding self-talk in relation to building positive thinking. Some people may relate self-talk to the barriers towards attaining true confidence in ourself. This can be true in the cases of people who do not push to take the pessimism out of their systems.

There is also a school of thought that says self-talk is an important tool in the development of positive thinking. The inner voice is seen as a teacher, mentor, and a friend. Self-talk has been used by successful people in their careers in fields such as sports and show business.

Here are some few tips on how to use self-talk towards developing positive thinking:

1) Listen to your inner voice.

This is the first step in making good use of self-talk. Identify the inner voice in your head and listen to what it is saying.

2) Assess your thoughts.

What are the thoughts saying? What’s the attitude towards yourself being stated by these thoughts? How have you responded to these thoughts in the past? What have these kinds of thoughts made out of me throughout the years?

Another important aspect to assess is the way a person reacts to the thoughts that are being said by his inner voice. A person may think that his negative thoughts are empowering and that these things give the much-needed push to attain one’s goals. Negative comments and thoughts can be useful in the short run. However, they do more damage than good in the long run. Viewing your life in a positive light is the sure way towards having a positive thinking. When a person goes down, the inner voice would say “stand up, you can do it!” rather than “stay down before you hurt yourself again!”

The general tone of your inner voice is as important as what it is saying. Negative tones should be eliminated and be reversed into positive ones.

3) Make a difference.

Dealing with your inner voice can be a hard task. If it’s daunting to talk to someone who wouldn’t listen, it’s much harder to talk and listen to yourself because there can be no sensible arguments that could happen.

Getting rid of the negative thoughts inside your head will give the positive thoughts some space. It is all about rephrasing the negative thoughts to make them positive. Your view of the world is based on your views of the world. You will develop positive thinking by feeling good about yourself. Your inner voice should not have control over you; you should have control over the inner voice.

Positive thinking is like a pair of eyeglasses. Having the right pair can let you enjoy the beauty of things.

Life is all about perception…….. You will never enjoy life if you perceive it with negativity. This is also true in terms of viewing yourself. Positive thinking is tied to having true happiness. True happiness can only come from within your heart and believing in yourself is the only way to achieve happiness.

We are all wealthy…..

You are wealthy!

Yes….you. You just need to see the blessings that surround you.

Too many people lose their life when they start thinking of things that they don’t have. They have a ‘poverty’ mentality.

What they don’t realize is that what they already have is much more than what they don’t have.

You have things of tremendous value and you don’t realize that until you lose them.

You can see, touch and listen. You have family and friends. You have a home. You have food and water. You have LIFE!

Think about losing just one thing that you take for granted and imagine your life without it.

Let’s say that you lost your eyes and became blind. Simply, you won’t be able to read this article!!!

Imagine your life without being able to see. Terrible, right?!

Surprisingly, there are blind people who made a difference and left a legacy. They just look at life from a different angle and start appreciating what they have, instead of crying on what they lost or what they are deprived from.

Here is a beautiful saying that summarizes this concept…

“I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more” - Unknown

You take sun for granted. Imagine your life without the sun. When you have enough rain, you will appreciate the sunny days.

Look at your life with a new eyes starting today and start to see how beautiful it is.

Be grateful and stop complaining. You are wealthy and you are surrounded by a lot of blessings. You must start to invest in what you already have, right now. Believe in yourself and dream for a bright future. One day you will realize that gratefulness is the seed of greatness and the mine of prosperity.

I vote for change…..

Monday, May 5th, 2008

It doesn’t mean I am voting for Obama…..it means Ienjoy and accept change in my life.

Change……one of the main reasons that may hinder us from reaching our innermost goals and desires is our inability to be flexible.

This fact may be hard to swallow, but it’s true. We do everything we can to eliminate any type of suffering in our
lives, yet challenges and pressures can bring out the best in us.

If you have been burdened by mistakes in the past, learn from them, forget about them, and move on.
Some people tend to focus on how bad their lives have been due to these mistakes.
As a result, they remained stuck in their miserable lives.

Treat your mistakes as lessons, and apply them as learning references in your future endeavors.

So what if you invested in a business and you lose a ton of money? In this situation, some people would remain deeply discouraged for a long time that their personal lives are being affected negatively. They can’t eat well and they just stare at the ceiling all night long, thinking how this bad incident happened. Then they probably decide to not venture into new opportunities again.

You don’t have to be like them…..If you’re afraid to fail, then you risk all your chances to achieve your goals in life.
Try again, but this time, be more careful and use your past mistakes as guide maps.

Look at it this way. If you try, at least you get a 50% chance of getting what you want. But if you did not try
at all, you have absolutely no chance of attaining your desires in life.

It’s a no-brainer……….embrace change, it’s the only constant in the universe

Who do you want to be………

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

“What would you like to be when you grow up?” I bet you often hear this question asked many times when you were still young. But have you given this question some deep thoughts?

Different people have different dreams. So what’s your aspiration? Do you want to become a doctor, lawyer, pilot, or entertainer? Or would you want to be like Tom Cruise or Bill Gates? Let me tell you now, you can become what you want to become. You can be anything you want to be as long as you put your mind and heart to it.

Here are some tips and words of encouragement to keep you all fired up.

Learn as much as possible about the person you aspire to be. Let’s say you dream to become a basketball player. Gather all facts and information about the sport. Research on the internet, read books, watch the games and analyze team strategies; in other words, strive to be an expert.

You must have the desire and passion to know everything you can about the subject. If you can have a real person to imitate or look up to, the better. For example, you may see yourself as Michael Jordan (for basketball), Mariah Carey (for singing), or Heide Klum (for modeling). Feel, talk, and act as if you’re that person you’re emulating. You’ll quickly acquire the behavior and qualities of that person. This formula works like a charm, so just give it a try.

Take motivated action and start pursuing your dreams. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. That will never happen. There will always be bumps and obstacles ahead. The important thing is to start right now and adjust along the way.

Persist until the very end. Never let failures distract you. Just keep pushing yourself to the limit. If you think that a task seems impossible to accomplish, banish that thought immediately. Your mind has the capacity to bring into reality anything you desire. As long as you stay focused and patient on your objective despite any setbacks or discouragements, you will become successful much sooner than you may think.

32 years on the run…

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Recently a woman was arrested and returned to Michigan where she had walked away from a long prison sentence when she was 18. She was serving time for a drug conviction. Now 30 years ago drug convictions recieved much harsher sentences than today…..

We have celebrities that serve no time for some of the crap they do. I guess the Michigan prosocuters want to really make an example of her…..Why? I don’t get it….she didn’t kill anyone, she didn’t do any kind of violent crime.

Now I’m not saying she should get off scott free after being a fugitive for 32 years. But should she be forced to complete her original sentence of many years? I would say give her a big fine and let her go back to her family.

We have numerous examples of people accused and possibly committing much worse crimes and never serve a day in prison.
OJ is just one glaring example.

All this woman did was sell a small amount of drugs 30 some years ago and now they want her back in prison. We will pay for her in prison and costs for the courts again.

How will her being in prison help society? I am not condoning her escaping 32 years ago…..I just asking what good it will do to return her to jail….

I can only imagine what is must have been like for 32 years to wonder when she might get caught…..One question I have is who turned her in and why now after 32 years.

I say if we can have politicians and celebrities use drugs and then say…”oh I need to go to rehab” and get off we can let this woman finish her life as a free woman after paying a fine.

Just my humble opinion….
